Our vision for Fleetio is to be a company's digital hub for everything fleet-related.
Our fleet management software has some great features, but software is best when its data can be leveraged by other systems and applications.
We're proud to announce the launch of Fleetio's API and are excited for developers to start using it in ways we can't even imagine.
What's an API?
API is short for "application programming interface". It's a way for programmers to write custom software that interacts with data and functions in another software application (e.g. add, update or delete data, etc).
Fleet Management Software API
Using our API, customers and 3rd-party software developers can build on top of our fleet management software. The data stored in Fleetio (such as vehicle records, maintenance logs, fuel data, driver information and more) can be used in other software applications. Fleetio data can even be updated by other software applications.
Example use cases:
- Integration with accounting software. Service entries and work orders could be pulled from Fleetio and imported into Quickbooks, Xero, etc., eliminating double entry into both the accounting software and the fleet management system.
- Mileage updates from a custom field technician app.
- Listing overdue reminders or issues in dashboard software such as Geckoboard or Leftronic.
- Pulling Fleetio data into a "Big Data" or Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tool like Chartio.
